The Castellón truffle and its derivatives, such as oils, liqueurs, sausages and truffled cheeses, have been the protagonists of the gastronomic market that, throughout the day, has occupied the full extent of the Plaza de las Aulas de Castelló to promote the consumption of this prized fungus of the interior and other Christmas products of Castelló Ruta de Sabor. The president of the Provincial Council, José Martí, the deputy of Tourism, Virginia Martí, and the deputy of Rural Development, Santi Pérez, have visited the fair around noon and have personally greeted the 26 provincial producers -six more than last year- who, until 8 pm, have exposed to the public the best of their gastronomic products. The three have taken the opportunity to inquire about the production process of food and to collect proposals for improvement to give “new impetus” to the brand that encompasses the products ‘made in’ Castellón. The deputy of Tourism, an area that now assumes Castelló Ruta de Sabor’, said to be “very excited” with this conversion project because “we see gastronomy as an opportunity to grow”. Pérez added that from now on they will work “together to squeeze the most out of this brand and everything that surrounds it because this way we will create a great economic stimulus for the inland regions”. The influx of people in the Plaza de las Aulas has been a constant thanks to the good temperature, unusual for the month of December, and the varied musical and recreational program for young and old. In fact, this is the main novelty of this edition of consolidation, which has opted for live music as an attraction and added value to the already always crowded tastings and cooking workshops. The most popular, once again, has been the rosquilletas workshop for children organized by the Gremio de Panaderos de Castelló. The president José Martí has assured that “with fairs like the truffle we make known the wonders that hides our provincial interior” and has encouraged citizens to consume this Nadal products of Castelló, “because this way we create wealth and jobs in our land”.
