The president, José Martí, recalls that gastronomy is one of the main axes of the tourism policy promoted by the Provincial Board of Trustees, Virginia Martí.

The president of the Provincial Council, José Martí, considers “very important” the investment of 700,000 euros to be made by the Provincial Tourism Board during the third and fourth quarter of 2020 through its shock plan to strengthen the Castelló Ruta de Sabor brand. This is “an unequivocal support” that shows that for the government team of the new Provincial Council “the rise of home products represents a real priority”. The support is provided in two ways: through a line of specific subsidies for member companies and through the implementation of a marketing campaign to help position the delicacies produced in the province of Castellón for tourism. According to the president, these actions are in line with the tourism policy being promoted by the deputy Virginia Martí, whose two main axes are gastronomy and cycling tourism.

Precisely has been the deputy responsible for the area of Tourism which has detailed the actions to support Castelló Ruta de Sabor included in the shock plan promoted from the Provincial Board. The most important is the provision of a line of aid worth 500,000 euros, which will be available to companies that are part of the brand. According to Virginia Martí, “these are subsidies that can be used to hire advisory and consultancy services for the development of contingency plans and covid action protocols, the development of digitalization actions to adapt services to the requirements of the covid protocols, the purchase of materials and equipment to adapt the facilities and equipment of the businesses to health regulations and promotion and communication actions”.

On the other hand, the Board will invest 200,000 euros in the activation of a segmented marketing campaign of Castelló Ruta de Sabor, as gastronomic tourism is the backbone of the province for its tourism potential and its transversality. The objective is to “promote the gastronomic value of the province and the sea and mountain destinations as a complement to cultural, nature and active tourism.”

The president of the Provincial Council, José Martí, recalled that the tourism shock plan has an overall budget of 2.8 million euros and that Castelló Ruta de Sabor is a gastronomic product club “in constant growth” to which more than 200 entities in sectors such as accommodation, hospitality, food production, fishing, trade, markets, activities and the Tourist Info network are adhered.
