The television program MasterChef will become next Tuesday, April 2, a great promotional platform for tourism and gastronomy of Castellón. The Provincial Council has supported the recording in the province of this leading program to help generate opportunities around gastronomy and the enhancement of the value of local products of Castelló Ruta de Sabor. Thus, with the broadcast of this program, the Provincial Council incorporates this audiovisual production followed by millions of people to its work and commitment to generate new opportunities for producers and gastronomy of Castellón.
The provincial president, Javier Moliner, explained that “after much work we will soon be able to see how the most followed chefs on television will prepare their creations with the best product of the province and with a picture, that of Peñíscola, which reinforces our tourist image among millions of people. It will be a great opportunity to tell the whole of Spain that in Castellón we have the best pantry in the Mediterranean”.
In that sense, Moliner has assured that “the commitment of the Provincial Government is to continue opening doors to our producers, to our people so that our destination and our gastronomy are increasingly known and appreciated by more people. With that we help to generate new employment and economic opportunities in our towns, being very proud of the enormous quality of our products”.
It should be noted that this new initiative to record a Masterchef program in the province of Castellón is in addition to other important ones such as the one achieved by making the chef with the most Michelin stars in Spain, Martín Berasategui, ambassador of the Castelló Ruta de Sabor brand. Two undoubtedly strategic actions when it comes to adding visibility to the products of the province of Castellón as top quality products.
A program ‘with local products
The contestants travel to Castellón to discover the charm of the province in Peñíscola, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain and tourist image par excellence of the territory of Castellón. Truffles from Maestrat, lagostinos from Vinaròs, artichokes from Benicarló and clemenules mandarins are some of the products of Castelló Ruta de Sabor with which they will cook for 150 guests. In addition, they will receive advice from Maribel, a Benicarló participant in the first edition of Masterchef, and Michelin-starred chef Miguel Barrera from Castelló.
For the expulsion test, they will delve into the concept of sustainability and utilization in the kitchen. They will make a croquettes recipe with three different types, with the help of guest chef Francis Paniego (two Michelin stars), son of Marisa Sánchez Paniego: National Gastronomy Award in 1987 and cook of the best croquettes in the world. They will not cook alone either, as the winner of MasterChef Celebrity 3, Ona Carbonell, will participate in this test.
