The president of the Provincial Council of Castellón, Marta Barrachina, reaffirms the commitment of the provincial institution to strengthen the brand Castelló Ruta de Sabor adding its presence in gastronomic fairs nationwide. “We have set the goal that the taste of Castellón is tasted throughout the year and beyond our territory,” said the highest representative of the provincial institution.
Strengthening the projection of the Castelló Ruta de Sabor brand is one of the four main lines of action of the 2024 budget of the Provincial Tourism Board. These accounts amount to almost 9.5 million euros and aim to position the province of Castellón as a tourist destination of excellence. In addition to Castelló Ruta de Sabor, the 2024 accounts for the Provincial Tourism Board reflect the commitment of the Provincial Council of Castellón to strengthen support for music festivals to make Castellón a Land of Festivals; give more impetus to Castellón as a cycling tourism scenario and further strengthen the province’s festivals. It also highlights the amount of 1.4 million euros to continue promoting sun and beach tourism, the province’s main tourist resource.
With an emphasis on gastronomy, the Castellón Ruta de Sabor brand is a firm and decisive commitment of the Castellón Provincial Council “to position the gastronomic heritage as a first class tourist product that complements the varied tourist offer of the province and take the province to the gastronomic cradle,” added the first president of the Provincial Council.
For this reason, the roadmap set by the Provincial Tourist Board for the coming year includes actions whose main objective is to promote Castellón as the best pantry in the Mediterranean and support the primary sector, agriculture and livestock farming in this area, and all sectors of the hospitality industry that value the cuisine of Castellón, making it a differentiating tourism product.
To achieve this goal, the Provincial Board of Castellón has already defined the calendar of fairs in which the Castelló Ruta de Sabor brand will have a relevant presence. “The organization and participation in gastronomic fairs are necessary positioning tools to improve the consumption of local products of the province and the presence of the Castelló Ruta de Sabor brand is key to identify these products,” added the president of the Provincial Council.
To publicize this strategic line of action, the vice president and head of the Tourism area, Andrés Martínez, together with the manager of the Provincial Tourism Board, Virginia Ochoa, held a meeting this week with mayors, councilors and municipal technicians to inform them of the calendar of fairs in which the Provincial Tourism Board will be present both nationally and internationally.
“From the Provincial Tourism Board and the entire provincial government as a whole, we are committed to promoting the quality of the province’s agri-food industry by strengthening the projection of Castellón’s products and that in the various fairs scheduled over the next year our farmers, ranchers, producers, consumers, chefs and artisans, all of whom are a fundamental and indispensable part of Castelló Ruta de Sabor,” said Vice President Andrés Martínez.
As for Castelló Ruta de Sabor, the brand will be present along with other tourism proposals of the province, in Fitur, the International Tourism Fair to be held in Madrid from 24 to 28 January and is marked on the calendar as the first annual event for tourism professionals worldwide. In addition, the gastronomy of Castellón will be the protagonist from 29 to 31 January on the occasion of the presence of the Provincial Tourism Board in a new edition of Madrid Fusion. Barely a month later, Madrid will once again be the setting for the gastronomic proposals of the province of Castellón with the participation of the Tourist Board on February 26 and 27 at WOOE Madrid (World Olive Oil Exhibition), the world’s leading fair dedicated to olive oil, which brings together the largest operators in the international trade of this product, uniting producers and consumers.
In May, a new edition of the Castelló Ruta de Sabor Gastronomic Festival will take place in Alcalà de Xivert-Alcossebre, an event that is already a link in the strategy of the Provincial Council of Castellón to bring the province to the gastronomic cradle.
Alicante Gastronómica in September and Mediterránea Gastrónoma Valencia in November complete the program of fairs that will have Castellón’s agri-food products as the absolute protagonists.
