Sunday, 22 January 2023 - Castelló Ruta de Sabor

The president of the Provincial Council of Castellón considers that this initiative, which has four million euros of European funds, will make Castelló a first class tourist destination.

The International Tourism Fair (Fitur) held this week in Madrid closes its doors today and the president of the Diputación de Castellón, José Martí, has taken stock of the presence of the provincial institution in what has been the first post-pandemic appointment. Thus, Martí has highlighted the great reception that has had the plan Necst Destination Castelló 2026 both in the public sector and in the private sector that has been present at the fair. It is an investment plan with European funds that will attract four million euros to promote the Castelló Cycling cycling tourism project.

Martí pointed out that this investment of four million euros from European funds “will help us to invest them throughout the province and turn our territory into a first class tourist destination”. “Four million euros framed in a double objective: the sustainable management of tourism and convert cycle tourism in key product and backbone of our regions, as well as also achieve the deseasonalization, “added the president of the council.

It should be noted that the Necst Destination Castelló 2026 plan is part of the Destination Cohesion Action (ACD) for the sustainable management of tourist flows in which the Castellón Provincial Council has marked cycling tourism as the backbone product of the territory. In addition, it is part, along with the tourism sustainability plans, of the Spanish tourism sustainability strategy, and is developed in coordination with the central and regional governments.

The project covers four lines of action: green and sustainable transition to which 710,000 euros will be allocated; improvement of energy efficiency to which 1,197,520 euros will be allocated; digital transformation with an investment of 1,138,985.51 euros; and competitiveness with 948,691.35 euros.

For its part, the provincial deputy of Tourism, Virginia Martí, has highlighted the “big bet” that has made this year the Diputación de Castellón for “visibility and bring the brand Castelló Ruta de Sabor” to the International Tourism Fair (Fitur). Virginia Martí explained that this commitment has materialized with the presence of the three Michelin star restaurants in the province of Castelló (Cal Paradís, Atalaya and Restaurante Raúl Resino) “who have been with us at Fitur showing the variety of dishes they have in their restaurants and that are made with products of the Castelló Ruta de Sabor brand”.

In addition, for the first time has enabled an exhibitor where there have been tastings of products Castelló Ruta de Sabor. “For us the gastronomic tourism axis is important so we also give it the visibility it deserves at Fitur,” added Virgina Martí.

It should be noted that, in relation to gastronomic tourism, the International Tourism Fair in Madrid has also served to announce a new edition of the gastronomic festival organized by the Provincial Council and that was so successful in Benicarló, which brought together renowned Michelin-starred restaurateurs from all over Spain.
