The Diputación de Castellón promotes the gastronomic duality of the coast and the interior as a tourist resource to revitalize the towns of the province. Thus, the Provincial Government combines the celebration of the First Gastronomic Days of Rice Seafood Oropesa del Mar taking place this weekend at the marina of the municipality with the Black Truffle taking place until March 10 in the municipalities of Culla, Catí and Benassal, in the Alt Maestrat.
And is that both initiatives are born with the vocation to value the products of the sea and the mountains of the province of Castellón in a place as attractive as the facilities of the marina of Oropesa del Mar, and in the towns of Maestrat.
The provincial vice president of Tourism, Andrés Martínez, explained that “the gastronomic days are emerging as a successful tourism formula in our municipalities, which see the opportunity to show visitors and the people of the villages themselves the gastronomic richness of the territory. Linking the days to local products allows us to know them more closely, and thus also their cultivation, their properties, and above all, improve our knowledge of the attractions of the province of Castellón”.
Martinez stressed that “the gastronomic days help to deseasonalize tourism through Castelló Ruta de Sabor, and this is also the objective of these first Gastronomic Days of Seafood Rice with which we contribute to the enhancement of the excellent products of our province and energize our towns and our tourist areas as in this case”.
It should be noted that the days of Oropesa del Mar, the most innovative for being its first edition and have a duration of only three days, offer specialized menus in the seafood rice in the three restaurants of the marina of Oropesa del Mar until next Monday 25. The Gastronomic Days of the Black Truffle of Maestrat will remain, with the truffle as the protagonist of succulent dishes, until March 10.
Generate tourism through the enhancement of gastronomy.
Both gastronomic days are part of the Castelló Ruta de Sabor gastronomic and tourism project, which aims to promote the value of the province’s agri-food products and gastronomy to help towns generate new economic and employment opportunities in the region.
Thus, the Provincial Government will raise this year to 987,000 euros its investment directly for this purpose and thus consolidate its commitment to gastronomy as a generator of new opportunities in the municipalities of the province. It should be noted that after four years of trajectory, this brand of the Provincial Council, Castelló Ruta de Sabor, has managed to bring together more than 100 producers from 15 different food sectors, two designations of origin, a Protected Geographical Indication and 6 products with distinctive Natural Park.
