Castellón Provincial Council makes Castellón the reference point for the study of truffle cultivation

The Provincial Council of Castellón has become today its facilities in New Dependencies in the epicenter of the province and reference of the study to raise truffle farming as a resource for the future with a successful training sessions ‘Truffle, truffle farming and rural development’ that have sold out.

Thus, through this initiative that aims to help producers in the province, the Provincial Government continues to strengthen the Castelló Ruta de Sabor project as an engine for generating new economic opportunities and future for the people of the interior of the province. The deputy of Rural Development, Pablo Roig, has assured that “the response has been so spectacular that we are considering repeating the course at the beginning of next year to be able to respond to the demand for places that we have. It is good news that we are positioning ourselves as a truffle-producing territory, with all the good that this means for our villages, and also as a territory in which knowledge and training in truffle growing is promoted”. It should be noted that 55 professionals from different parts of the province, Valencia and even France have participated in this conference, so that these events are also becoming a tourist attraction and positioning of the territory as a truffle producer among the sector. The deputy has assured that “we work to take advantage of all the opportunities offered to our interior by the cultivation of this precious fungus. The success of public we have in each of the sessions that have already been carried out shows that there is much interest in our people to explore the opportunities offered by the cultivation of this precious fungus, and that other territories already see us as a reference in truffle growing”. It should be recalled that this initiative is part of the Provincial Government’s promotion of the resources offered by Castellón to boost the territory in order to multiply the opportunities for development of the interior of the province.

 

Improve the knowledge of such a precious raw material
This new truffle course allows the Provincial Council to add arguments when “positioning our interior as a reference in the production and knowledge of this precious fungus, thus opening numerous opportunities for the future of these villages”. It should be noted that the course was aimed at all those interested in deepening their knowledge about the truffle, from students, entrepreneurs, farmers or professionals in the agricultural or forestry sector.

Truffle Farming Advisory Service

Within the line of promotion and enhancement of the truffle as a backbone of tourism in the inland area, the council created the Truffle Farming Advisory Service through which offers in-person, telephone or e-mail to the farmer who has a truffle plantation. “The aim is to reinforce the truffle as a sustainable economic alternative for the inland regions of the province,” explained Roig.

Castelló Ruta de Sabor, generator of wealth and opportunities

After the successful I Tourism Product Fair Castelló Ruta de Sabor, the Provincial Council does not lower the activity regarding the provincial gastronomy and prior to the truffle fair and Christmas products to be held in December, returns to go a step further with this training course. And it should be noted that the Provincial Government of Javier Moliner has already incorporated 115 companies in the province as ambassadors of the product brand Castelló Ruta de Sabor in this gastrotourism bet to improve the opportunities of the people. The profiles of this tourism product network are made up of agencies, accommodation, gastrobars, restaurants, stores, markets, interpretation centers, tourist offices, agri-food industries and visitable fish markets, tourist fishing and agricultural and livestock producers.
