Albocàsser promotes its local almond on October 5 and 6 with the support of the Provincial Council.

The provincial institution will include an item in the 2020 budget to subsidize gastronomic fairs.

Albocàsser will host on 5 and 6 October the eighth edition of the Almond Fair, which has the support of the brand ‘Castelló Ruta de Sabor’. The official presentation in the capital of La Plana took place this morning at the Provincial Palace with the presence of the provincial deputy of Tourism, Virginia Martí, the mayor of the town, Isabel Albalat, and the councilor of Fairs, Empar Adell.

Martí has congratulated the City Council for the “great impetus” that has been given this year “to the fair par excellence of the almond of the province”, which will unite in just two days gastronomy, workshops, music and fun with the mission to promote this nut so Castelló. Precisely, it is this line, that of promoting the products ‘Castelló brand’, “what has motivated us to integrate ‘Castelló Ruta de Sabor’ within the competences of Tourism, because we want to value gastronomic tourism, one of the keys that we think can be a great revulsive to revitalize the interior and to promote the economic development of the area”. “We are working under this premise”.

During her speech, the deputy of Tourism has also stressed “the unconditional support” of the Provincial Council to all those initiatives that sell “what is ours” and announced that the next budget of the provincial institution, the first of the current government team, will include an item for the subsidy of fairs and gastronomic exhibitions on a competitive basis.

The mayor, meanwhile, highlighted the role of Albocàsser as the most important producer of almonds and invited the people of Castellón to come to the town to know both the gastronomy and the rich local heritage. Albalat, in addition, has advanced that from the City Council is working to celebrate some “very special” days that will coincide with the time of flowering of the almond trees.
