On September 21 and 22, Borriol will become the epicenter of local gastronomy with the celebration of the “V Mostra de les Olives Trencades i la Garrofa and the “III Fira Gastronòmica Km 0”. These days, organized by the Borriol Town Council, are a tribute to the local products and the rich culinary tradition of the municipality, highlighting two of the most emblematic ingredients of the area: “les olives trencades” and the carob. This event is organized through the Department of Tourism, led by Josep Cristià Linares, and the Department of Commerce, headed by Alejandro Maireles, with the collaboration of the neighborhood, local entities and companies, as well as other participants from the province of Castellón. With this gastronomic sample and fair we want to recognize the efforts of our people in the promotion of local products. This event will be a celebration of the authentic flavors and culinary tradition that defines Borriol and the lands of the province. From the organization explain that “this year there are no olives, but we will taste oils, eat coca fullà and discover different products of proximity and uses of our star ingredients from the hand of several people from the town and surroundings, producers, artisans and innkeepers, as well as other entities and companies in the sector that participate”. Because of the drought that is suffering the territory, the production of olives has been scarce, so there is not enough supply to enjoy the traditional “olives trencades borriolenques” as other years.
