A sea of olive trees

Enjoy an unforgettable day with this one-day plan in the Baix Maestrat. We suggest you immerse yourself in the area’s olive culture by visiting the vast expanse of olive trees surrounding our villages, where you will find the largest concentration of ancient olive trees in Europe.

What to visit and what to do

  • Visit a family oil mill and learn about the different varieties of olive oil in the area. In an oil tasting, discover the nuances that characterise them.
  • Delve into the olive-growing tradition of the area by visiting the old Cervera mill, now converted into the Molí de l’Oli Interpretation Centre, and discover the traditional extraction processes used in the area in the past.
  • Taste the characteristic carob cuisine, a traditional ingredient recovered and enhanced thanks to local proposals such as the Carob Gastronomic Days.
  • Visit the Sanctuary of Mare de Deu de la Font de la Salut, the interpretative area of the ancient olive trees and a tasting of olive oils at CI Traiguera Virtual.
  • Discover the cultural heritage of Traiguera and its Roman past. In October, you can enjoy the Fira Romana, where the whole town goes back to Roman times.
