What to visit and what to do

  • Walk through the streets of Burriana to discover the close relationship between modernist architecture and the important orange trade that once existed in the area.

  • Enjoy the natural beach of Les Goles and go up the mouth of the river Mijares to reach Almassora, where you can taste the famous local cheese, which enjoys great international recognition, having been awarded the prize for the best cheese in the world for several years.
  • Make the visit coincide with Les Calderes de Almassora, a real old-fashioned showcooking where the typical dry rice stew of the town is cooked in the middle of the street and then distributed among neighbours and visitors who crowd the Plaza de España.
  • Cross the medieval bridge of Santa Quiteria to access the bustling centre of Vila-real and have a vermouth or enjoy a drink in the evening in the Plaza de la Vila, the nerve centre of the city.
  • Visit Vila-real during its patron saint festivities to attend La Nit de la Xulla. In this multitudinous event, locals and visitors crowd the streets with their bonfires to grill all kinds of meats.
