The Provincial Council of Castellón promotes gastronomic tourism in the province through an already consolidated V Gastronomic Days of Oil and Nuts from this coming weekend until December 16. And it is a strategic line of the Provincial Government to promote the enhancement and awareness of the quality of local products through the brand ‘Castelló Ruta de Sabor’ in which these products are emblematic of the area. A total of 11 restaurants from 7 municipalities of the Maestrat show excellent menus completing an attractive tourist offer.
As stated by the provincial deputy of Rural Development, Pablo Roig, “from the Diputación de Castellón we work to convert the agri-food sector and tourism in generators of wealth and opportunities for the present and future for our land. This type of conference in which more than one municipality participate become a tourist attraction of the first order for visitors to tour our territory and know not only our gastronomy, but the gastronomy becomes the catalyst that leads to discover much more of the cultural and natural heritage of our territory.
The best raw materials make excellent menus
Oil, the quintessential symbol of the Mediterranean diet, has one of its sanctuaries in the province of Castellón and its cultivation, together with that of nuts, has a long tradition in these municipalities and form the solid base on which these days are based, which we are sure will delight lovers of good food.
The menus presented by the restaurants are priced between 15 and 35 euros and they can taste both traditional dishes and innovative recipes prepared by the restaurateurs of these municipalities. In the Days we will be able to taste great recipes such as: “Duck confit with sautéed nuts and apple”, “Almond soup with seeds and quail”, “Pil pil pil cod with crunchy almond”, “Sirloin steak with flavored oil with rosemary parmentier and berries sauce”, “Baked Maestrat lamb (cooked at low temperature) with dried fruit couscous”, “Olive oil tasting, bread with oil and salt (guitar) and seed bread”, “Fried milk with hazelnut and almond”, “Virgin olive oil ice cream”, “Almond and clemenules tangerine cake”, “Gin and tonic ice cream with arbequina”, “Cottage cheese and almond pastisset with orange cream”, …
Most of these menus are accompanied by Castellón wines that pair perfectly with the dishes that compose them.
Castelló Ruta de Sabor: The good gastronomy of the province
These “V Gastronomic Days of Oil and Nuts” will take place until December 16 in restaurants in the municipalities of Catí, Cervera del Maestre, Culla, Les Coves de Vinromà, Rossell, Sant Jordi and Sant Mateu, municipalities that, with the realization of these days, participate in a real taste route through the province of Castellón.
In addition to tasting good food and participating in everything that “Castelló Ruta de Sabor” offers to lovers of good food through these gastronomic days, they provide the opportunity to learn about the rich historical and natural heritage of these municipalities, stroll through their streets, make purchases of typical products of the same and imbibe the cozy atmosphere in these autumn days.
Packaged tourism experiences linked to gastronomy
The Gastronomic Days of Oil and Nuts are a good example of how the creation of the Castelló Ruta de Sabor tourism product means, for the first time in the province, to package a network of tourism experiences linked to gastronomy in a coordinated way with all the agents involved.
After four years of experience, the brand of the Provincial Council Castelló Ruta de Sabor has managed to bring together more than 100 producers from 15 different food sectors, two designations of origin, a Protected Geographical Indication and 6 products with distinctive Natural Park. It is a brand present in stores, fairs, supermarkets and supermarkets in the province and part of the Spanish territory.
