The television program Masterchef became last night the best media showcase to promote gastronomically and touristically the province of Castellón as the best pantry of the Mediterranean. Leader in the national television grid in prime time, more than 2 million viewers who followed yesterday from their homes the second chapter of this seventh season of the successful television format broadcast on La 1 of TVE were able to see first hand the quality and culinary variety that treasures the province. Not surprisingly, this culinary reality show that moved yesterday to Peñíscola recorded the best audience share in its time slot and a screen share of 16.6%. Figures that, as the president of the Provincial Council, Javier Moliner, has meant that “millions of Spaniards have seen firsthand that coming to Castellón is to come to taste the excellence of the best pantry of the Mediterranean”. To this end, and thanks to the collaboration of the brand ‘Castellón Ruta de Sabor’ to reinforce local producers, during the program the best products from Castellón starred in the recipes of the aspiring candidates to become the best chef of this edition of Master Chef. “In prime time, the producers from Castellón that guarantee our seal of quality, as well as the culinary references of our territory were brought together to show the whole country the enormous possibilities of the gastronomy of Castellón,” said Moliner. During the program the contestants, and with them the millions of viewers who followed the contest, discovered and cooked products such as the Maestrat truffle, Vinaròs prawns, Benicarló artichokes or clemenules tangerines. It should be noted that this new television initiative is in addition to other important initiatives such as the one achieved by making the chef with more Michelin stars in Spain, Martin Berasategui, brand ambassador of Castelló Ruta de Sabor. All this to make the promotion associated with the broadcast of this program adds to the commitment to the binomial gastronomy-tourism and “represents an excellent opportunity for our tourist destinations. It has been shown that the gastronomic heritage is an excellent tourist resource to attract visitors to a land of sea and mountains with an incomparable flavor”.
